ENN-NEON Block Club

Pat Sharkey - President

Pat Sharkey has been a resident of the ENN-NEON neighborhood since 1986 and has deep roots in Chicago. While an undergrad at the University of Chicago, Pat met her husband, Jack Markowski, with whom she ventured to Oregon for law school. But urbanites at heart, Pat and Jack were drawn back to City life in Chicago, where they raised three daughters in Edgewater.
Pat is a retired lawyer whose career focused on environmental and energy law, work that continues to inform their commitment to thoughtful development, sustainability, and community advocacy.
Outside of her professional life, Pat is deeply involved in her neighborhood and the city. In addition to volunteering with ENN-NEON, she is active with Edgewater Residents for Responsible Development and Friends of the Parks. She enjoys the camaraderie of neighbors and time spent cooking, hosting dinner parties, watching movies, doing puzzles, and attending theater performances. A lover of jazz and blues, she can often be found enjoying live music around the city.
Pat also enjoys sailing, spending time at the beach, traveling, and, most importantly, being with her three daughters and two grandchildren. A favorite pastime is simply hanging out along Broadway and enjoying the life of the neighborhood.

Tabb Lemons - Treasurer

Tabb Lemons has been a resident of the ENN-NEON neighborhood since September 1998 and is originally from Hudson, Michigan. Tabb brings deep local knowledge and a diverse professional background, having worked as a butler for 15 years and then co-owning a kitchen and bath fixture store for 22 years.
Outside of work, Tabb enjoys staying active and engaged through a wide range of interests. These include playing pickleball, tending to a 3,500-gallon koi pond and garden, and cooking healthy meals. Tabb is also passionate about snowboarding, traveling, and learning about longevity and healthy living.
As a long-time neighborhood resident, Tabb is committed to supporting ENN-NEON through thoughtful stewardship, community involvement, and a focus on long-term neighborhood well-being.
Caitlin Duerinck - Secretary

Caitlin Duerinck moved to the ENN-NEON neighborhood in March 2020—just 36 hours before the COVID-19 lockdown went into effect. Despite the memorable timing, the neighborhood quickly became home.
Professionally, Caitlin has spent her career working as a fundraiser for nonprofit organizations, primarily for social service and educational groups across Chicago. Caitlin is also a ceramic artist who teaches pottery classes for adults a few times a week. Her favorite pieces to create are wheel-thrown vases and mugs. These days, much of her time is also devoted to making sure her toddler and puppy don’t team up to take over the house—and eventually the world.
Outside of work, Caitlin is an avid reader, often going through two to four books a week. She and her daughter are frequent visitors to the Edgewater Library, where they enjoy the excellent children’s storytime. In addition, she’s enthusiastically crafty—skilled in knitting, crocheting, sewing, and woodworking, and currently teaching herself embroidery.
Caitlin is excited to serve on the ENN-NEON Board and contribute her nonprofit experience, creativity, and community spirit to the neighborhood.

Sue Fox - Board Member

Sue Fox moved to the Edgewater neighborhood in 2008, relocating from Lakeview, and quickly became involved with the ENN block club that same year. Since then, she has been an active participant in the organization, including previously serving as both Secretary and President.

Sue grew up on a farm in southern Wisconsin and moved to Chicago after graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in biology. She currently works as the Laboratory Manager of a research lab in the Department of Molecular Biosciences at Northwestern University’s Evanston campus. The lab studies how misfolded protein aggregation within cells contributes to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, an area of research that plays an important role in understanding conditions such as Alzheimer’s and related disorders.

Outside of work, Sue enjoys working on projects at the family farm, from gardening to a variety of repairs and restorations. Her interest in genealogy has also led to involvement in local historical and preservation projects in that community. Sue is an avid sports fan and enjoys attending as many of her nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events as possible.

Sue especially values her long-standing involvement with the ENN-NEON block club, appreciating both the collaborative spirit of its members and the opportunity to help preserve the charm, character, and vitality of the neighborhood she has called home for many years.

Robert Gerovski - Board Member

Robert Gerovski has been a resident of the ENN-NEON neighborhood since 2010. Originally from Detroit, Robert brings a broad professional background in management consulting for software development, working with organizations to improve how technology teams operate and deliver value.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending time in the kitchen and backyard, where he can often be found tending his smoker in pursuit of the perfect brisket. He is also an avid student of history, with interests that range from the origins of punk rock music to the mysteries surrounding the collapse of late Bronze Age civilizations.
Robert values community engagement and looks forward to contributing his experience and perspective to support ENN-NEON and the continued vitality of the neighborhood

Monna O'Brien - Board Member

Monna O'Brien has been a proud member of the ENN-NEON neighborhood since 1987 and considers it home in every sense of the word. She values its welcoming feel and unique balance—close enough to downtown to enjoy the city's energy, while still near the lake, which offers a peaceful place to unwind.

Monna grew up and went to college in the Midwest. Her chosen career producing television commercials for major advertising agencies, including Ogilvy, allowed her to collaborate with creative teams and travel extensively for both national and international productions.

Outside of work, Monna stays actively engaged in creative and cultural pursuits. She belongs to several fiction-focused book clubs, enjoys experimenting with new recipes, and loves entertaining friends and family at home. She also takes classes in painting and stained glass and enjoys decorating projects around her home.

An avid traveler, Monna recently visited Transylvania, Romania, and is working toward seeing as many U.S. National Parks as possible. She volunteers with The Saints, which gives her opportunities to attend and support theater and dance performances, and she regularly attends live jazz shows around the city, including performances at Le Piano and SPACE.

Monna is enthusiastic about continuing to contribute to ENN-NEON and supporting a vibrant, engaged neighborhood community.
